The music composition “Nomos Alfa” is an important part of the multimedia installation “The Cube”. “Nomos Alfa” is a work for solo cello written in 1965 by the Greek composer Iannis Xenakis and it was dedicated to the French mathematician, who had discovered a mathematical language for the laws of symmetry. Because of the discovery, it became possible for contemporary mathematicians to translate the geometry of Arabic ornaments into mathematical language. This connection between mathematical, geometric and musical was the key connection between the ornamental and the sound compositions of the exhibition “I am a Nomad” at the A.Kasteyev State Museum of Arts in 2016.
